Ladies and gentlemen, the moment has arrived.
At last I have stepped into adulthood.
This is the time when you should be heartily clapping and cheering for me from your side of the computer screen. Go on, you know you want to.
Friends, lend me your ears!
I am finally and officially employed full-time.
“What“, you say, “That’s it?“
THAT’S IT?!
Now wait a minute! Listen here!
For someone who has spent the last five years completing their Bachelor degree and post-graduate studies, for someone who vagabonded throughout this country and Italy to work vintages casually, for someone who has worked hard in order to build their experience and confidence, it is a BIG deal to finally be offered full-time employment!
Instead of insanely working two wine retail jobs casually six days a week, today marks the day that I have begun my new position as Wine Marketing Coordinator for the dear Italian food & wine importer/distributor/retailer/restaurateur I began working for exactly one year ago.
A lot can happen in a year.
This new position will see me spread across the entire business. I still have so much to learn and it will always be a continuous process with new products and vintages constantly coming in. These are exciting times. An opportunity to prove myself and to truly become part of the business/family.
I have also requested to take a month off each year to work vintage with one of our wine producers. A concept, that friend Anthony d’Anna recently mentioned in his post ‘Traditional Wines and Business Done the Old Way’ on his Il Vino Da Tavola blog, is only beneficial to the strength of their relationships and builds a familial bond. With so many options in producers and the plethora of regions that Italy boasts, it could be difficult to choose what would most benefit my learning. Wouldn’t they all?! Sicilia? Perhaps Emilia-Romagna? Or Piemonte again? Chissa‘!
For now it is time to put my head down and plant myself firmly into the work ahead of me. The contract has been signed, sealed and delivered. I’m yours, Enoteca Sileno.
Now for a little bit of cheese.
Here’s a remake of Stevie Wonder’s wondrous song “Signed Sealed Delivered I’m Yours” by the boy-band quartet called Blue circa 2003.
Cringeworthy material right there. Enjoy.
Hahahaha, you’re gorgeous! Congratulations honey!!! 🙂 🙂 Enoteca are lucky to have you. Cna’t wait to pop in for a visit soon…. xxx
Great…But Jeeeeesus where did you find that music? Atrocious, really bad.
Thanks for the mention and well done. You deserve it.
Congratulations on the new job, Krystina. The working vintage month is a good idea. You’ll still need some real holiday time somewhere in there too.
Thank you Paul. True, I will have to work something in there…although ironically vintage overseas has never seemed like ‘work’ to me. I’m hopeless 😉
