It was the second day of Spring, a glorious, bright blue filled the wide open sky and the sun was brimming with warming rays. It was Father’s Day and I was down on the farm eating and relaxing with the family. This setting made me realise that it is not often enough that we get to celebrate a person we hold so dear and admire so much. In fact, they should be honoured, loved and cherished at every possible opportunity. So here I am with what I thought might be a lovely idea by commemorating the greats, the fathers, the gods, or more fittingly, the kings.

The King of Funk/Soul – James Brown

The King of the Jazz Age – Louis Armstrong

The King of Opera – Luciano Pavarotti

The King of Folk Rock – Cat Stevens

The King of Country Rock – Johnny Cash

The Great Crooners – The Rat Pack

The King of the Dancefloor – Fred Astaire

The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll – Elvis Presley

The Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll – Bill Haley

The King of Pop – Michael Jackson

The God of Wine – Bacchus (Roman)

Bacchus, also commonly known by his Greek name Dionysus, appears to be a god who has two distinct origins. On the one hand, Bacchus was the god of wine, agriculture, and fertility of nature, who was also the patron god of the Greek stage. On the other hand, Bacchus represents the outstanding features of mystery religions, such as those practiced at Eleusis: ecstasy, personal delivery from the daily world through physical or spiritual intoxication, and initiation into secret rites. Looking for someone to worship? How about this guy?

The King of Wines – Barolo

Where a lot of my money goes…

The King of Bad Romance Covers – Fabio (aka the Most Beautiful Man in the Cosmos)

I am sure there are many more suggestions. Please send through any that come to mind as a comment and I shall add them later.
