Being Indiana Jones and the Hula Hoop Queen

I want you to picture yourself sitting in a room, overcome with an insatiable thirst and your favourite wine is sitting before you.

Now imagine that that bottle of wine is just out of reach. Frustrating, isn’t it?

It would be like being put in an Indiana Jones situation à la Raiders of the Lost Ark (see clip), where your treasure/goal is momentarily out of reach. Or in his case, literally bombarded with sharp, deathly obstacles. Yet Indiana proved that with a little bit of skilled footwork and some clever rolling tactics, that goal could be achieved.

A few months ago, I began dancing again (of the ballroom and Latin variety, mind you). It is a sport I started for fun and continued to do over a five-year period when I was still living at home. However once I started travelling for work doing vintages during 2008-2010, this pastime was sadly postponed. Momentarily, at least. Now I have never been one to enjoy the exam-taking process. Who is, really? In my case though, it was more a fear of the exams for playing musical instruments and even for dancing. I had stupidly convinced myself that attempting to complete these exams would take away all the enjoyment out of the activity. I will admit that I was wrong. In order to rectify the situation I am working towards obtaining my bronze medal in street Latin dancing by mid-September. That is my goal. You watch, I’m gonna get it! Yes it will be challenging. Yes it will be tiring. But yes, it will also be fun. How can you not, doing the Salsa, Merengue and Argentine Tango?!

In honour of all the goals we strive to accomplish, here is a superb clip of one very talented lady who achieved her objective, albeit a little unconventionally, of drinking her favourite wine. Hula hoop-style.

Enjoy.
